THE HASANAH REPORT 2022
Today, protecting the environment is far more than a moral imperative. It is also an economic and a social necessity, seeing that healthy, thriving ecosystems and human well-being are so intricately-linked.
As climate change, pollution and habitat destruction alongside their effects on surrounding communities remain critical concerns, a sustainable future is still viable with urgent and effective public awareness and policy-making.
Responsible management of plastic waste is high on the list of priorities with 6 communities and 93 schools working towards reducing plastic waste. Meanwhile other projects continue to generate income for community members through circular economy.
As for the Perak Sustainable Development Model, 10 new projects are actively running under 8 priority programme focus areas namely Central Forest Spine Demonstration; Bukit Larut Conservation, Segari Melintang Forest Reserve Conservation, Pulau Sembilan Marine Areas, Lenggong Valley Conservation, Kinta Valley Geopark Conservation, Ipoh and Kuala Kangsar Climate Resilience Pilot Projects.
A waste management solution that benefits the community and the environment
A long-term effort in species revival alongside the local community
A sustained effort to support farmers in 4 Tuaran communities through improved planting methods and marketing strategies
Solutions for Nature start and end with us. Conserving, including protecting nature and building empowered communities, is a given if we are to mitigate and adapt to our changing climate and environment. As we continue to grow as a nation, accountability and responsibility in how we use and dispose of plastic is critical. And as we move towards demonstrating how we can achieve sustainable development, building mutual understanding, cooperation and collaboration are vital for us to succeed.
